What is Fair Trade?
Fair Trade is an equitable trading relationship between producers in developing countries and companies in developed countries in which fair prices are paid to the producers. The Fair Trade movement combines paying higher prices for goods with improved social and environmental standards, designed to develop sustainable and equitable trading relationships for products and goods from developing markets. Fair Trade by definition is a trading partnership based on dialogue, transparency and respect. Fair Trade labelling and certification is provided by multiple organisations including Fairtrade International, European Fair Trade Association and the Fairtrade Foundation. The World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) is the global community of social enterprises that fully practice Fair Trade.
