What is a Social Enterprise?
A social enterprise is a business with social objectives. Social enterprise aims to maximise profits whilst maximising social or environmental impact, and uses its profits to funds its social or environmental initiatives. A social enterprise differs from a charity as it operates by selling goods and services on a revenue-generating basis, then using its profits for social purposes rather than for shareholder value. Social enterprise typically prioritises workers from local or at risk communities.
